I think that movement is the key to life. It is a key predictor of longevity. Often once we stop moving, problems arise. Getting out to walk, lifting weights, going on a run, doing yoga - they're all important to how we are able to move on a daily basis. Being strong enough to lift things throughout your day, running after your kids, bending over to tie your shoes - it all revolves your ability to move your body.
I have been a weight lifter since my teenage years. I have actually held some of my high school's records for back squats, hang cleans, and power cleans. I love being able to challenge myself to lift more and more weight. Growing up, I was a cheerleader, even cheering a few years in college. I guess you could say lifting weights and people were my thing. I am a wife and mom of three sweet girls. I find that staying active and strength training have helped me keep up with my crazy kiddos.
I graduated undergrad from Campbell University with a degree in Kinesiology in 2013. In 2016 I graduated from East Carolina University with my doctorate in physical therapy. After graduating, I married my husband, Ryan, and we have lived in the Topsail area since 2016. We love getting outside - whether it's going to the beach, going on walks, gardening, we love what Topsail has to offer.
All of my career, I have worked in outpatient orthopedics. I love having the ability to connect with my local community and help my patients get better and stronger. I think our profession in the healthcare field is unique - we are some of the only providers that have the opportunity to spend a significant amount of time getting to know our patients and help them achieve their goals.
I think that Move Physiotherapy is truly a special setting where we are able to connect with our patients one on one and tailor your therapy program to what helps you the most. I sincerely enjoy seeing how patients progress from the initial evaluation through treatments. Every win that you may have, I will be right there behind you, cheering you on.
